1980

Steele Family Clogging

Rising to prominence in the 1980s, Steele Family Clogging earned national recognition as champions in the clogging world. When the group needed new leadership, Vickie Neilson and Gloria Jones stepped in to carry forward the tradition that Brian Steele and his family had established. Vickie, sharing her passion for clogging with her five children, proudly began a new chapter, continuing the legacy through another generation of family clogging.

1994

Strictly Clogging

As times changed and the clogging community evolved, so did the needs of the dancers and families involved. What began as a tight-knit group with deep roots in tradition soon outgrew its original structure. To adapt, the legacy branched off into new directions, introducing new faces, expanding into additional studios, and creating space for more dancers to thrive. One of the most significant developments was Vickie Neilson and her studio, Strictly Clogging, a program that preserved the heart of Steele Family Clogging while embracing modern choreography, broader access, and a fresh identity. Though the names and studios have grown and changed, the core values, family, tradition, and the joy of clogging, remain at the center of it all, continuing the legacy for future generations.

2002

Ultimate NRG

As the program continued to grow and evolve, it became clear that a full rebranding was needed to reflect the NRG, passion, and future direction of the studio. At this turning point, Vickie Neilson, alongside her three daughters, Amanda, Angie, and Ashley brought a fresh vision rooted in tradition and fueled by innovation.

With their shared passion and commitment, Ultimate NRG was born. More than just a new name, Ultimate NRG represented a bold step forward, blending the strong foundation of Steele Family Clogging with a renewed focus on growth, creativity, and community. Under their guidance, the studio has housed, multiple MVP's, Hall of Fame, and Ring of Glory recipients. Ultimate NRG has become a place where dancers of all ages could thrive, connect, and carry the legacy into the future with pride.

Passing the Torch

For decades, Vickie Neilson poured her heart and soul into the clogging community. As a director, mentor, and mother, she created a space where dancers could grow in both skill and confidence. Her leadership preserved the legacy of Steele Family Clogging while nurturing a new generation of cloggers, including her own children. With her unwavering commitment and love for the art, Vickie built more than a team, she built a family. And after years of service, guidance, and inspiration, it became time to pass the torch.

This legacy is now in the hands of Ashley Fewkes, the youngest child of Vickie. Having grown up on the dance floor, Ashley was raised in the heart of the legacy her mother helped sustain. A standout performer, innovative choreographer, and passionate teacher, Ashley brought fresh energy and forward-thinking leadership to the studio.

Ashley has been dancing since she was eight and choreographing since she was just 11, building a lifelong career rooted in passion, creativity, and family. As a second-generation leader of the award-winning NRG Studio, she now runs the business alongside her two daughters, carrying on a legacy known for its originality, sass, and flair. A licensed cosmetologist, dedicated wife of 20 years, mom of four, and Northridge High School cheer coach, Ashley brings energy, artistry, and heart to everything she does, on the dance floor and beyond.
